Op here:

No, no chance I'm pregnant - I am a post-menopausal nanny! The nightmares of last Friday night cast a dark shadow on my entire day yesterday but luckily last night was fine - slept like the proverbial baby.

It is a huge responsibility we take on in caring for another's child. I guess after all these years my subconscious reacted to it.

My nanny had one last week; turns out she's pregnant! I know pregnancy can cause vivid dreams. Any chance in your case?

Yes only once. Years back when I was a live in. The parents traveled quite often so I was basically a 24/7 live in.

I had a horrible nightmare that someone broke in and started stabbing the children. The youngest (1 yr) was in bed with me and in the dream I look over to see this man stabbing him. I still cringe picturing it, the blood was so red, it was eerie!!!
I got up and literally checked on each child, checked all locks, windows, doors, the alarm everything!
Stayed up watching movies cause I couldn't sleep after that!!

Not nightmares but I do have those moments of worry what if the child gets seriously hurt or dies in my care.

I had nightmares all last night about losing the baby in my care and one about Isaac Mizrahi kidnapping the baby! Truly horrible nightmares. I've been a nanny for a long time and have had dreams about goofing-up (double booking, angering my NF, forgetting I had to be at work) but never have had such horrid nightmares about something bad happening to the child!

Do any other nannies get nightmares about their charges?
