Seriously, your MB just decides to take a day off from her job to spend with her baby and you lose a day's work/pay?! Giving two weeks on your part would be extremely generous of you!

Wait until you get the job and then give two weeks notice.
No matter how much you love the baby, always remember that you are an employee and those parents could fire you at a moments notice.

I've been the nanny for a six month old boy since his birth working for new parents with their first child. I may be offered a great job in a different field within the next few weeks. I like the parents but I LOVE the baby and get a lump in my throat every time I think I may leave him.
Should I wait and see if I'm offered the position before I tell them? How much notice is customary? I do not have a contract and do not get any benefits (no sick days, no paid vacation, no pay for days when the MB decides to stay home - I'm paid fairly well, $18 an hour, for the time I work - and am paid legally.
