It's completely irrelevant what OP had to do in the morning. The parents were beyond inconsiderate. The onus was on them to be home at the agreed upon time, not on OP to ensure that they were aware of it.

If they say no sleeping but aren't getting home until 3am, they are ridiculous.

+1 from another MB... They are very inconsiderate for not even responding with an approximate new arrival time.

OP posted at 3:20am eastern time. Safe to assume she's a west coast nanny, posting just after midnight. So she is saying she had to be up at six am on a SUNDAY, not Monday.

Are you not reading? Parents said they'd be home by midnight.

Yes I read that. But they went to a party on the weekend. They had no way of knowing OP had to work early the next day unless she communicated that. Most parents give me an estimated time they will be home, but I always make sure to let them know if there is a time I absolutely need them home by, say for the last bus. So many issues on her could be easily avoided if you ladies would open your mouths and communicate. You're adults. Know what you need, and tell people. Don't expect them to just know.

Lesson learned, OP. Next time tell them their curfew. Sometimes we just need to be the adults.

In their defense: it's the weekend. They didn't know you had plans the next day.

On the other hand, I understand your frustration. When I was in high school I babysat the night before I had to take the SATs. They were very late getting home and I was so annoyed!

Hey, I wished they wouldn't stay out so late too sometimes but I figure they later they stay, the more I get paid $

I can't sleep in situations like that. One time mb and db didn't get home until 5am. Thankfully I didn't have to work the next day but I was worried sick for there safety. Never even a text to say we are alive.

I would have gone to sleep hours ago. I'm usually on the couch, lights off, eyes closed (although never fully asleep) around midnight. No parents have ever complained.

So I'm babysitting for one of my nanny families tonight. They told me they would be home between 1130/12.
Ok well, I try not to babysit on the weekends because it's easier to get screwed. And tonight is that night. I get a text at midnight we haven't left the party yet.

Say what? I text back sad face ok well do you have a time?
Nothing, I get nothing in return. I have to be up at 6am. Seriously I'm going to wait 30 more minutes then just go to sleep. If they are pissed I am asleep, they should have arrived home on time.

And I know they will want to "chat" when they get home, about how crazy the party was, how were the kids, etc. And I'm going to just walk out.

I really need to stick to my guns and say no to babysitting.
