Gross. Always work in gross rates. You cannot know another individual's tax situation so you don't want to be negotiating in net terms.

Sounds like a very normal, reasonable offer for the area ($15/hr average rate, appropriately broken out to reflect a base rate and an overtime rate).

It sounds to me like they're trying to do it right OP. Hopefully you'll be happy in the position, and they with you, and there will be room for growth in the compensation.

Congrats.

I think that is a fair rate for the area, one baby who sleeps half the time and lots of vacation. If you like the family, take it.

Oh, good grief, 11:44. I can't imagine you are an MB in DC area. $20/hr is very high for one child in this area. Especially considering the generous vacation time and no housekeeping.

$15-16/hr average rate is very good for that job.

For 40h the weekly rate should at least be $800
10h more I would be surprised if anyone would do it for less than a $1000

New born would be more expensive

Find another family

That's a $15/hr average rate. Pretty typical in this area for one child. I would start a little higher myself, but this is not a bad deal.

That's $15/hr average rate or $750/wk. Certainly low average for many locations but not crazy low.

$13 an hour seems low for a new born for someone with 8 years experience. If you can live on that comfortably and it seems like a good fit then go for it but that is definitely on the low end of pay.
