I do this at work. My boss has the heat on blast all day (we are in California!!!) and I turn it off the minute they go to work and actually have to put the AC on for awhile just to get the house to a bearable temperature. I crank it back up to 76 as they like it before they get home. In the summer I put the AC on after they go to work and turn it off before they get home.

MB here. I disagree with the advice to adjust the heat without the parents knowing - they will notice (the house will retain the heat for a while and the utility bills will show the usage) and that will come back to be a problem.

I think they're being completely unfair to you. I would suggest talking with them again and asking to have a couple of rooms heated, or to have a space heater that you can use in the areas where you will be. If they refuse then, if you can swing it, I would tell them you need to start looking for another position. You really enjoy working for them but can't bear shivering all day long at work. And what the heck will happen in the summer?!

I'm sorry OP - this is just wrong.

I worked for one lady for very short time. She would turn the heat down to 60 when she leave me and the baby home. I would turn it back up right after she left. She asked me about it. I explained to her 60 degrees was to cold for a baby under 3 months. Her husband looked at her like see you crazy. He apologized multiple times. I'm sure your boss is cranking up the heat when you leave.

MB here and honestly that would be my advice as well.

Do they turn it up when they get home for the nighttime? I'm just curious since you said they are comfortable with the temp, but I'd imagine it gets much colder at night. Have you told them that is is 40 something degrees in there? Better yet taken a screen shot? I'm just wondering if they truly have no idea because they turn up the heat as soon as they get home? I can't imagine how cold it gets a night, but must be way colder than during the day! So, what happens at night?

If you've had this conversation with them and they still won't turn up the heat, just document (I prefer email so everything is there in writing), turn up the heat when they aren't home, and start looking for a new job. No one should be left in a cold house all day.

There really wasn't one given, MB just said the house is a comfortable temp for her, DH and ODC.
And maybe it is, but during the day, it's really, really cold in here

Bring a space heater and move it from room to room. Shut doors to every room not in use. Turn on oven and open door while baby naps, sit in kitchen. Leave house as much as possible.

Finally, tell employers they need to keep heat on while you work or your giving them your two weeks

I'm in my second year with my NF and today I just want to quit. Not even a notice, just leave. It's an "in the moment" emotion and I truly don't want to leave but what I'm desperate for is some warmth. The NF house, 2 stories, has 107 windows. There are windows everywhere, literally, and most walls are covered top to bottom in 6-8 separate windows. Even the hallway and bathroom walls are full of windows. With all of these windows, it's cold in here. Add in that the playroom is over the garage and has half walls, the cold just rushes in from the garage below and as of right now it's 42degrees in the playroom. Warmer than the 35 it is outside, but I'm freezing. (Side note, playroom and bathroom have no heat). There are several fire places here but I'm not allowed to use them. I'm so cold that I sit in the laundry room during nap just to take the chill off. Today I'm doing laundry so it's magnificent in there, but my charge will be up soon and I dread leaving the laundry room. Other than the extreme cold in the house (it is by no means warm anywhere in here, but definitely warmER than the playroom), my NF are great. I don't remember it being quite so miserable last winter. Before anyone asks, I layer clothes, wear a zipper hoodie and as much as possible, have gloves and a hat on.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
