FYI, after our nanny had been with us for a while, and accompanied me to several doctor visits, we also put a letter in our file at the pediatrician's office that she was an authorized caregiver. That way if she did need to call them or take someone in she was on record as approved.

My employer's also had a notarized form authorizing me to make medical decisions for the children, in case of an emergency and they were not available.

We left:

our home phone number
our doctor's number, address and directions
the address of the nearest hospital and how to get there
name and phone number of neighbor who has spare key
who to call if we both died on our way home from work

We introduced her to our next-door neighbor who works from home and is on the HOA board.

We also had a kidnapping worry with an unhinged ex of a grandparent, and we gave her a script of what to say to not allow her in, and encouragement to threaten and follow through on calling police if she wouldn't leave.

Yes, as well as any other person she can contact in case she can't reach you or your husband if there is an emergency - like a secretary or a colleague who can relay her message to you.

Any codes or passwords that your building has, write them down as well. Alarm systems? A magic kick to the boiler to set the temperature? What to do in case the fire alarm goes off?

Now think about your typical day with the baby from when you wake up until you go to bed. Go hour by hour and make a list of all the things you'd like the nanny to be aware of (like, idk have the baby nap in a dark room, open windows for nap time, use a specific soap to wash bottles, etc). Think of anything that is a you thing and would not be immediately evident.

Depending on the nanny, either give her a written list or go over these things verbally.

You and your husbands phone numbers, a close (distance)relative, friend, or neighbor, the doctors information also. I have poison control saved in my phone, but strangely have never had anyone leave that number for me.

First time mom of 2 month old baby. Nanny will be starting on Monday. What contact information and other important things should I leave her. I know my husband and my cell phone and work numbers but do I give the nanny the baby's doctor name and contact information. Any other tips would be great. Tia
