My standard babysitter knows I will pay her if she doesn't find another job that night or if she was really counting on the money. Sometimes she'll tell me that she had other plans that night that she was skipping so she's actually we I canceled and not to pay her. Most times she finds another job and let's me know so I don't pay her.
Really just be kind and then you will keep your sitter. If you're canceling within two days, pay her anyway. More than that, talk to her.
This is great advice, and I would really respect a family that showed this much respect for my time!
