I don't see why you would get paid extra. You are working the same number of hours, just with a modification of your usual schedule. I also see no reason you should be paid extra for sharing a room with the kids because you are already paid to work 24 hours. Given that you are being paid to work through the night, you shouldn't be doing anything in the room that requires any greater level of privacy than, say, closing the bathroom door to use the toilet or get dressed.

As a technical matter, this sounds contrary to overtime laws because with two weekends of work, you will be working at least one seven day week. Thus, they really should be paying you for the extra weekend workdays at time and a half. That said, you aren't entitled to get the post-vacation week off with pay, so if you push for extra compensation, don't be surprised if that gets taken off the table. You may also cause irreparable damage to your relationship with your employer.

If you're a 24 hour nanny than no, I don't see why you would get paid more. Just make sure everything is paid for by them (the food, hotel, activities you take the kids on, etc)

If you're going to be working the weekend then yes, you def get paid extra for that.

What is wrong with these parents? Why even have children if you have a 24/7 weekend and weekday nanny. These parents are selfish and should never have had children. And now they can't even go on vacay without a nanny? Those poor poor children!

OP here- I get paid a salary. I am mostly located in DC, but they also have houses in NYC & Aspen. No, they are not hands on parents .

Something tells me these aren't the type of parents who check in on their kids for a nighttime story or just because. They sound totally hands off with their need for round the clock childcare.

I would demand a seperate room. If they can afford 24/7 childcare, they can spring for a 2 room suite for you and the kids. It's weird for an adult to be forced to share a room with children, you need your privacy. What if you want to make a call, eat, watch TV or do anything while they're sleeping? Sharing a room with my own kids for a week would be stressful.

I don't know about extra pay for traveling, either way you were going to be on the clock so why does it matter where you're going to be? Definitely extra pay for the extra days/nights though.

Do you get paid a daily rate or a salary? When I was in my 24 hour job, I got a daily rate, so I always got paid more when we traveled.

Yes, if you're sharing a room with the children while traveling you should be paid for those nights.

Are you getting paid for the weekend that you are traveling with them? The following week when the weekend nanny works for you, you won't be losing money, correct?

I would ask for my regular salary+weekend pay, making sure I'm not losing money due to the weekend nanny making up hours. I wouldn't ask for anything additional.
