While a holiday gift is always nice, a monetary bonus is traditional. Your nanny is a professional and deserves to be treated like one. Many employees receive end of the year bonuses and so should nannies.
While I don't necessarily disagree with you, it really bugs me when people say that all these employees are receiving end of year bonuses and therefore so should nannies. I'm an MB that doesn't receive one. So does that mean I shouldn't give my nanny one?
