BS. They didn't forget to write a check one week, that happens to most of us now and again, but failed to pay her repeatedly AND wrote bad checks. Dunno about OP but I have to pay a fee when a check bounces. They broke their commitment to her, so she owes them nothing.

OP never said they wrote her a bad check. She finds them to be rude and disrespectful, but never said they wrote her a bad check. Even if she "owes them nothing", she should still stay through when she said she would. It is frustrating not to be paid on time, believe me, I know, I've been there many times. And I have had a checks bounce on me before. It happens. I didn't quit my job when it happened. They offered to pay any fees that may have resulted because of it. We all make mistakes.

Wait until you get paid on Friday and if they pay you with a check then wait until it is deposited. You owe them absolutely nothing, especially if they didn't pay you on time. That is my biggest pet peeve. Honestly, if it were me I would just send them a text over the weekend. If parents choose to treat me like crap I'm not going to give notice. Quit and enjoy your break over the holidays.

Just wait until Friday to make sure you are paid. It's unfortunate that you need to leave on a sour note but maybe it will show them that being a terrible employer has its consequences.

I have been more than fair and may be rude but since they are rude and don't respect me I don't feel I should have to continue with them. No I don't need their reference if if we ended on good terms like originally planned I never intended to use them.

Yeah I don't understand why you need to leave before you had planned. Just make clear to them that you won't be staying with them because you have already committed to another family, then work until Christmas like you promised. Remind them before your pay day, or whenever they must run pay roll. Its not your job to remember, but there's no reason to end things badly with only a few weeks to go.

I'll start by saying I've only quit one job and gave 3 weeks notice.

I am quitting my current job no question about it. It's only 1-2.5hrs a day with a 30minute commute. When I started they knew I was only working until Xmas and are supposed to be finding a replacement mb admitted they haven't started looking in hopes I would continue with them vs the ft position that starts in January. I get paid every 2 weeks however the last three times I was supposed to be paid and they "forgot" and weren't able to pay me until the Monday/tues of the following week. I've now decided my last day will be Friday. When should I tell them?
