One of the tough things about being a nanny is that there is absolutely no standard way of doing anything. It doesn't have anything to do with class. Typically bonuses are given by some families who can afford them and/or who choose to have them be part of their compensation package and are typically given either because they have the impression that they are standard or as a reward for excellent performance during the year. There could be many reasons they don't give you a bonus - they may not think your performance has been beyond the minimum acceptable, they may not know that some other families do give bonuses, they may just be cheap, they may not be able to afford it, they may think they pay you enough already, etc. If you have an issue with your compensation or the way your family treats you, bring it up with them.
