Say that since you had not been contacted about getting the money for working on Thursday, you are contacting THEM about it as you need the money and that they are required to pay you every day/week/whatever your agreement is for, in a timely manner.

I like 09:48's idea. I wonder if this was really just some kind of miscommunication. Dad thought mom had left money, etc. But DEFINITELY say something!!

That's it - no need to apologize or make more of it. Just ask how/when they plan to pay you.

OP, why would you work for free? Simply send them a text asking when you should expect payment for Thursday.

The problem is. If you do it for free once . They will expect it every time for free. I would send a text. If they don't pay don't watch there kids again. Amazing how so many families actually do this. Then is nannies have to stress about how to get paid.

Um duh, of course you bring it up with them. Noone works for free.

Why would you let it go? You earned it, it's yours. $40 is half my cellphone bill, half my weekly food budget, a dinner out for me and my kids etc.

In what other job would someone work and be okay with not being paid? Why are you even thinking about working for free?? OF COURSE YOU SHOULD BRING IT UP.

I babysat on Thursday for 2 families. I picked the kids from family A up from school at 3 then at 5 I picked up family B's kids from dance and took them all to family B's house. The dad from family A picked his kids up around 6:30 but didn't pay me, he was rushing out and I had my hands full with the other kids so I didn't think much of it at the time. At the end of the night when I got off family B paid me and asked if family A had paid me for 3-5. When I said no they offered to pay me for that time, but since I wasn't actually watching their kids I said no. I haven't heard anything from family A about them not paying me, and as it's only $40 I don't want to make a huge fuss about it. Should I bring it up or just let it go?
