It's fucking milk. It's not like you are fronting money for their entire grocery bill. Are you that selfish that you can't pick up milk when you are out anyway because your MB forgot to leave $5? As long as they reimburse you for it in a timely manner, I don't see what the problem is. -from a nanny.

I don't see what the big deal is about the money to pick something up at the store. My nanny will pick up a gallon of milk on the way into work-- it is 4 bucks-- I give her 5 back the next morning-- are things so TIGHT that you can't be without your 4 dollars for a day? Do you want interest of 3 pennies to be paid back to you the next day? AND-- I always round up-- so if something costs 9, she gets $10. That is a really stupid thing to get upset about.

It's rather irresponsible for parents to assume a nanny should be ready and willing to essentially loan them money without prior discussion and agreement. Consider that behavior to be a major red flag.

I don't think the issue was so much about not being reimbursed, that would be really bad, the issue was the MB not leaving money ahead of time but still reimbursing later. I can see why that might still be annoying but not nearly as bad as not being reimbursed at all.

I can't imagine not being reimbursed. Whatever I am buying is for YOUR KIDS. They aren't my kids. If you were at home you would be paying for them. Therefore, if I am taking care of them I expect you to still pay for them and me as well as I'm doing this for your kids.

I've been in both situations. I've had families leave cash in a designated place for this, and also had families have me tally my spending and been reimbursed at the end of the week.

When I ask for a raise and they say they can't afford it but goes off for three weeks every year to Europe.
Lets the kids do whatever they want and they are then little devils for me.
Expects me to keep the toys clean and tidy but then when I am not here lets the kids roam around like a pack of wolves.
Are not on the same page for the kids food with each other -- the mb and db
Lets the kids talk back to them and me and allows the 2 year old to call people bitches
NEVER on home on time or if she says she is supposed to be early-- is always a lie
I have called in sick ONE time in four years and she tried to guilt me into coming in-- I got the stomach bug from her kids
Had major surgery this year and she expected me to come in two days later-- bitch please.

I'm a nanny and I'll answer as things I hate. Not necessarily make a big deal out of it. I dont think my boss has big complaints regarding me but if she did I'd sure as heck would address it because I want to keep my job!!

*hate when she asks me to go to grocery to get one or two items and doesn't leave me money. Of course I get reimbursed later and it is never more than $20 but it is a bug pet peeve of mine. I mean... You want me to get milk and eggs? Make sure you leave me $10 bill. I have no obligation to cover your expenses till the end of the week.

*hate when she needs to make sure I have a full to do list and if she sees I'm freeing up a bit, she shoves more things for me to do. My kids are older and so I have a lot of time between activities so anytime I have 20min free anywhere, god forbid I use it to grab a cup of coffee or something. I just wished I didn't feel like she needed t get every penny that she pays for my hour (which I understand is her right)

*hate how she is cheap as @#$%%. If I have both kids in activities and it is close to dinner time, she gives me I swear to God, $15 to take both out for dinner at this nice little place ahahahha near hockey practice lol. She assumes BC anything on kids menu is $7.50 (it comes with drinks) then it should be $15 total. WRONG! BITCH, there's taxes, then your kid sees a cookie and God forbid you let the nanny help herself to a juice. Ughhh and hey are not poor. But this is what I have to deal with. *one thing that she tried making a big deal is the fact that I do not cook dinner for the grown Ups. She started asking me if I could cook this, cook that blah blah blah but... After reading about the MB who is annoyed by the fact that the nanny who is not responsible for laundry at all, is not hanging up the clothes, I started to wonder what other TEDIOUS things do you or your employer makes a big deal about?
