As their mother it is easier since they are YOUR kids. As a working nanny, it is much different because our liability is much higher since they are not our own children.

I would say put them into daycare or try to hire 2 less expensive sitters.

I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. It may be difficult for SOME nannies to handle but there should be plenty of nannies who can handle it. You shouldn't need 2 sitters for 3 children, no matter how much energy they have. You just need a new nanny.

3 boys under 8 would be a challenge. Much harder than 3 girls, IMO. But if your nanny can't handle the challenge, it's not a good fit, there are nannies who can handle it.

Op, does your nanny know she has your support to be heavy handed and to keep the boy in line? or does she have the impression that she has to put up with however they treat her because she is just the nanny? Does she have authority in the house to be firm and strict with them?

I routinely care for multiple boys, including toddlers. A good nanny should be able to handle it. If anything, kids are usually better behaved for a nanny than they are for the parents. At least that's been my experience.

I thrive in work environments where there is mass chaos. Three boys would be awesome for me. She's probably ill equipped to handle it, and that's a problem that is on her, and not something you've done wrong. I've nannied for 8 (yes. Eight!) rambunctious, wild children (at the same time), And I loved every minute of it!

Ugh, nannies, not possessive.

Does your nanny know how you want the boys disciplined? Is she able to use the same methods?

Your three boys aren't the issue, your nanny is.

I agree with PP. An experienced, more "seasoned" nanny will have no problem caring for 3 boys. How old is your nanny?
How much experience does she have?

No, it's not that difficult especially if they are not toddlers. Your nanny just doesn't have a firm hand or the experience. Find an older more established nanny who has worked with older children especially boys. I would also suggest a male nanny if they are rambunctious.

Hello Nanny's, I am hoping to get your advice/input regarding the care of three boys under 8 years. two are in school most of the day, but our current nanny does not seem to be able to handle all three at the same time. I think the boys are normal (sometimes listen and sometimes don't, fight sometimes, etc.) but are definitely high energy. As a parent, I know how to handle them, but how difficult is it for an outside caretaker? I feel that my boys have figured out that they can run all over her.

I guess I just want to know if it is unreasonable to ask one person to care for three young boys or if one should have two nanny (which might be cost prohibitive for us). Being the parent is obviously different than coming in from the outside. Thanks for your general input!
