Aren't you a peach...it's a wonder they dropped you.

I'm sorry, OP. That stinks that you didn't get the job. Good luck with the next interview!

Isn't it awful when families just vanish. Gosh it's so hurtful I think. A nice email saying we went with someone else goes a long way.

If they are still not responding, you didn't get the job. Time to move on.

It is pretty standard practice in all professions to send a follow up/thank you email after an interview, nannying, especially if it is for a high profile family, should be the same. Perhaps this is why you are being passed up. I would find it pretty rude and unprofessional (on the nanny's part)
not to receive a follow up email the day after, if not day of, an interview. Four days later would just come across as an afterthought.

This was with a high profile family so I understood why they wouldn't give the info out

Yes definitely send them a message tomorrow morning. I hate when families promise to get back to you and then don't. They may still be making their decision but closed the job because they had enough candidates.

One thing I wanted to add was you really should have gotten their email address and phone number before you interviewed with them. I don't even meet with a family after only talking on care.com - usually do a phone interview first. You have to protect yourself.

Then you can add that even if they've gone with someone else, to please keep you in mind for babysitting or if their original choice doesn't work out for any reason.

+1 great response

I interviewed for a job on Sunday the family said they would let me know by Wednesday their decision. Today when I looked at their profile the job said closed. I'm wondering if you guys think they went with someone else or just closed the ad and would you send them a message in care asking (don't have their personal email or phone number)? Thanks in advance
