I would chat to them about guaranteed hours. But you're not a nanny there-your a household manager/keeper with occasional childcare duties ie driving them about

Tell them to pay for the hours they want you available. Or if you prefer, just get a new job.

Is it possible that DB is going back to work, or actively interviewing? I'm wondering if maybe they thought a job was coming through and hired you just in case? It might be worthwhile to have a discussion, because perhaps DB is thinking about going back to work.

Sounds like they want you there in case you're needed. If the kids need to be driven somewhere and DB is unavailable, it's convenient having you there. IMO it's an easy job so just roll with it. I do think its odd that Tweens aren't doing the dishes themselves. They sound spoilt

I signed a contract to work 25 hours a week for an MB that works at home half the time & a stay at home DB. Their children are 12 & 13. My hours are 2-7. All I do every single day is load the dishwasher, do some wash, maybe cook dinner if the family doesn't feel like doing it & maybe drive the kids places if DB is running errands & MB is working. Most of the time there is nothing for me to do after the 2 hours I'm there. I don't have guaranteed hours so my paychecks have been roughly $200/week recently. What should I do?
