For FOUR kids!?? No way.

PP again. I'm a recent college grad, and nannied throughout school. I usually made $14-$15 for two kids, and that was with quite a bit of experience, $18 seems about right for four. Most high school age sitters I know (cousins, friend's siblings, etc) are making around $10 for two kids, and I think would likely be happy with $12-13 for 4. Benefits wise, every family offered me free range of the pantry (I only took advantage of that if I was there when the kids were also eating), I had guaranteed hours, and expected occasional flexibility if a school commitment popped up. In terms of housekeeping, I made any required meals/snacks, and made sure the house was in the same condition I found it in, but that was it.

I will say that I posted those ranges before OP posted the ages of her kids, seeing how young and close in age they are, I do think that would warrant a higher wage. I'll also say that my experience is all in the further out suburbs. The closer in OP lives, then those rates go up even more.

7, 7, 3, 1.5 - OP No: cooking or cleaning or laundry or running around. Yes: feeding and applying pjs and making sure no one gets hurt.

It depends on the duties. $25/hr sounds right for an independent, professional nanny who will attend to all child related duties, including driving to activities, kid laundry and the usual. However, if you are looking for more of a mother's helper who merely plays with the kids, you will do fine with $18-19/hr.

Going to start looking for help for the first time. 4 kids. Probably 2 or 3 days a week from 3-7. Some days I'll be home so it will be more like mother's helper, but I would probably pay the same rate whether I'm there or not. There's plenty of work to go around! Thanks for your help.
