For FOUR kids!?? No way.
PP again. I'm a recent college grad, and nannied throughout school. I usually made $14-$15 for two kids, and that was with quite a bit of experience, $18 seems about right for four. Most high school age sitters I know (cousins, friend's siblings, etc) are making around $10 for two kids, and I think would likely be happy with $12-13 for 4. Benefits wise, every family offered me free range of the pantry (I only took advantage of that if I was there when the kids were also eating), I had guaranteed hours, and expected occasional flexibility if a school commitment popped up. In terms of housekeeping, I made any required meals/snacks, and made sure the house was in the same condition I found it in, but that was it.
I will say that I posted those ranges before OP posted the ages of her kids, seeing how young and close in age they are, I do think that would warrant a higher wage. I'll also say that my experience is all in the further out suburbs. The closer in OP lives, then those rates go up even more.
