Subject: Overnight Babysitter Rates
I live on the west coast and charge a flat rate. Usually around $150 for 24 hrs depending on how many/ages of kids. Every nanny and family does it differently.

Sorry, I meant 7 am to 7 pm. I have an Au pair, so I don't have to get home by 7 am. If it is a work trip, then the AP just works her normal hours. I pay the going rate of $15/hr if my AP can't start at 7 am or if my babysitter starts early.
Oops. 7pm to 7 am (multitasking with Homeland sorry!!)

but if you're going away for the night, who wants to rush back at 7am? Isn't half the fun sleeping in a little?

OP here - thanks! I will ask if she agrees to this. Also plan on leaving her cash to take my child out for dinner/treat/breakfast if that is what they both want...so will try to comp in several ways. Just glad to have found someone I trust to do this

PP here. The sleeping rate is dependent upon whether or not your child sleeps through the night. If I have to get up throughout the night to comfort a child, I charge my hourly rate for the time that I'm awake. If your child is awake, so am I.

The way most babysitters charge for an overnight is to charge their regular hourly rate for all awake hours and a fee for all sleeping hours.
For example:
12pm Saturday to 9pm Saturday= $12x9hours= $108
9pm Saturday-7am Sunday(hours your child is asleep)=$100 fee (this is what I charge-some sitters charge more, some charge less)
7am Sunday-3pm Sunday=$12x8hours=$96
Total: $304
For example:

Subject: Overnight Babysitter Rates
For the first time, we are using our regular babysitter for an overnight trip. She has never given us a rate since she only sits for us. We pay her $12/hr for one grade school age child in the suburbs of MD (not DC). So, for the overnight trip, I wasn't sure if we should just multiply the $12/hr out for all of the hours - or if there is some more standard day rate? I just wasn't sure what was the norm since this is the first trip where one of the grandparents can't help out. Thanks!
