One week's pay is common though not required, prorated if the nanny has not been with you a full year. One caveat: start lower if you are not sure you can continue to give the same bonus every year because the nanny will be disappointed to receive less in subsequent years.

You are legally required to pay taxes on them and your employers are legally required to count all bonuses and cash gifts as part of your compensation.

I give my AP $200 (her weekly stipend) and usually extra time off.

I work 35 hr/wk. had been in the position four months last holiday season and received a week's pay as a bonus. Live out.

Last year I worked about 40 hours / week and received a $100 gift card and some cookies. I had given them some homemade candies and gotten each child a gift. I'm working for a new family this year that is very nice and appreciative (more so than the last one by a lot) but they earn a more modest living so I'm not expecting much at all. I'm OK with it, it's nice to just be recognized. I don't work in the DC area and people here don't seem to as educated on the norms of Nannies and average holiday bonuses. The holiday season will also mark my 1 year anniversary with them but I've never had a 1 year recognized so I doubt that will mean anything. I'm not too bummed though, since I know what to expect.

PT nanny here. I have always got a holiday bonus of one week's salary. I don't have paid vacations so this make up for my lost income in December when I get 2 weeks unpaid off.

I love the gifts from my charges the most.

MB/DB normally buy me a very nice gift. I get two weeks off for Christmas break paid, and I think that is a bonus! I cam travel! But they give me a bonus before Christmas vacation. I think it is a thank you for working hard during the weeks leading up to the holiday

Oh I am a live out, 65 hours a week been with them 3 years and just signed another year contract.

In the past I usually got 1.5 weeks pay. This job I got nothing. Other jobs I got gifts like $200 gift cards. I work 50hrs a week.

MB here. I give a week's salary as a bonus. Works 50-55 hours per week.

Every December I get an extra one month's salary bonus. Live out.

I'm curious what you all have received/given as a holiday bonus? If you could mention number of hours per week for the position, live in or live out, and how long the nanny has been in the position it would be great for comparison.
