Not all parents investigate the favor bags nor all of parents even come to the birthday. Don't say anything. You're making it out like it's a real, sharp, dangerous knife. It's not. Stop being a party pooper. There's a reason it's ages 7 & UP. Not 18+

Don't say anything. You're not going to be supervising the kids when they open and use their party favors and it is absolutely none of your business. Trying to tell your boss that she should talk to other parents is very condescending; she's a grown-up and can decide what to hand out at her kid's party.

Just do it without commenting. Your MB probably thinks it is harmless since the knife is wooden and has a rounded point. She will get feedback from the other parents on whether it is appropriate.

While I don't think this is an appropriate party favor, I can't think of any way to email MB to tell her this. I also think that that your "she should email the parents and say they need to be supervised while doing this and made sure they don't bring it to school" is a little bit of an overreaction. They are 11.

I don't think you are over reacting, as PP stated. I don't think you should say anything to your MB though. Its a bad decision, but its hers to make, and her consequences to reap. If parents get mad, its on her.

So, my Mb asked me to wrap 20 party favors for the 11 yo bday party. They are wooden kits for building a pocket knife. Tin says ages 7&up, unsharpened and rounded point. I think wooden projects are cool but.... A knife???
I'm sure they are all "responsible" and "careful" 11 yo but I hate to think that something might and can go wrong. My idea of approach was to ask her if she can call-email all the parents with a heads up and a warning to make sure kids are supervised and don't bring it to school (they can get suspended!!!) etc. My boss usually shows pretty great judgment but this one was a big fail in my view. What do you think? Nanny over-reacting? Is that a good way to approach Mb???
