I work for a SAHM. I have no problem with the SAHM lifestyle in general, in fact, my own mother was one and I feel we have a special/close relationship because of it. I do have a problem with micromanaging. I've been told "better ways" to wash delicates, load the dishwasher, cut a pineapple, hard boil eggs, boil water, steam broccoli, use a rice cooker, bake kale chips ... The list goes on and on. It's very controlling and condescending. If you need your refrigerator organized a certain way then either be clear from the beginning or do it yourself !

I am a career nanny who expects a nice ring and will be staying home with my children. If I discuss my complaints with my friends, however minor they be, that is my business. You should worry about your own life.

Life is hard, for all kinds of people, in all kinds of ways that can't be seen from observing them in a coffee shop.

MYOB and stop judging.

+1

Not all SAHM's have giant diamonds and a housekeeper. I see your point on complaining women who are SAHM's with the world at their feet, but as stated, "Life is hard, for all kinds of people, in all kinds of ways that cant be seem from observing them in a coffee shop." But if I was running around doing yoga, drinking coffee, and listening to my friends complain, I might join in. That is when I have kids and am a SAHM, obviously minus the diamonds and the housekeeper.

My MB always tells me to host play dates for a 'poor SAHM who needs a break'... She has two housekeepers and 'no nanny'. Except whenever I see the kid, it's with the housekeepers. What a poor SAHM!

I'm a WOHM but I have never a single time heard a conversation like this from SAHMs.

I would be so damn annoyed.

But in this crazy world, we have no choice but to co-exist and we must make the best of it.

I would just ignore them.

Nanny here. I have met tons of annoying SAHM's and I avoid playgrounds/classes/storytimes where SAHM's are known to congregate. I hate how unfriendly some SAHM's are.

The nanny is going on work time. That is the difference. A SAHM is just living her life.

The SAHM's were not with their kids and how do you know OP was with her charge? Lots of people get coffee before work.

While at the coffee shop this morning I overheard a bunch of stay at home mom’s all wearing yoga pants and sporting hefty diamond rings and one with fake boobs going on and on about how tough they have it what with their work out schedules and having to pick up and drop their kids and figure out what they were going to make for dinner.I couldn’t help but wonder what nannies must think when they listen to these annoying women. As a matter of fact there was a working mother behind the counter who rolled her eyes while I was getting my coffee...
