Employers were never required to provide health insurance for a nanny. It's a perk and should be considered as part of the overall compensation package an employer may be offering.

Give her the option, I'm sure she'd prefer more $ in her pocket.

I was wondering the same thing. I am by no means an expert in this area, and I find the whole situation very confusing, but I do think it depend on the state in which the employee resides and the plans offered. It might be that she could get a less expensive plan through the exchange, but it might not be a better plan.

I'd be interested in hearing thoughts on this. There must be someone out there who knows the law.

Is there no reason to provide it anymore?

Our nanny will qualify for it with almost full subsidies by the government due to her family situation.

What does everyone think about this?

I would rather give more money and raises then pay for health insurance.
