Contrary to what most of the posters here would have you believe, $12 for a relatively easy position (at 10 and 12 they are pretty independent, you are more of a chauffeur/extra pair of eyes or hands) is not that horrible of a wage. Most of the "nannies" here are going to tell you a position is crap unless it pays $20/hr with full benefits. I would negotiate on the "after 8" rate, as that is the only suspicious part, but the rest is not outrageous. If you want a position with relatively decent hours (you can take another job in the 8-3 time slot) and not a ton of work, this is not bad at all. FWIW, I took a job that paid not too much more than that for toddler twins and DID NOT feel as though I was suffering some horrible injustice by being underpaid.
+1 I agree.
OP - I know MANY nannies and none of them are paid over $15/hour. Only on DCUM you will see anonymous users inflating rates, trying to tell you that you should be getting $20/hour. It's false. If it was that easy than i'm sure many would quit their jobs and go into nannying. Only a small percentage of nannies (usually with ECE background, CPR/First Aid, college educated, experience, refs, etc) make $20/hr.
To answer your question, yes, it seems like a fair rate.
