Not enough. You would have no social or family life during the week and you still have to pay rent on a place.

Honestly, I think someone posted the identical post about 6 months ago...I wonder if the family is still looking. I think the thread went on forever, take a look at it.

I can tell you that we pay our nanny $45,000/year for a 40-hour work week, so your pay is ridiculously low.

If you have weekends off, why do you have to "manage" a weekend nanny OP? And it is not a true "live~in" position if you have to maintain an outside residence for weekends and vacations, etc.

I wouldn't take it unless it is truly slim pickings in the job market where you live.

You deserve 100k, you do understand you are signing you life away?? No free time, no dating life, you'd only see family on holidays... I'm assuming with 12 years of live-in, you're at least 30years + think about it

Rip off. That position is at least 100k since you have to get your own apartment, the benefit package is weak and the fact you have to manage a weekend nanny deserves additional pay.

Not worth it at all, in my opinion. I'd much rather make 60-70k and have my own life; for 24hr care you'd be reasonable asking for 90-100K at least (esp in NYC).

Way too little money for that many hours. If they really want you, tell them what you need in order for the job to be worth it.

I did the math and its closer to $13-$14/hour average, but I agree that its low, especially if you also have to pay rent on an apartment. You're basically a sahm during the week, and they always say their job should pay a gazillion dollars lol.

I'm an MB, but I think it's misguided to call this a "live-in" position since you have to maintain a residence for the weekends anyway. So you don't get the savings that a true live-in would, and your salary should reflect that.

Do you have any family of your own that you would have to leave? This would obviously kill your dating life as well. ...just some random thoughts.

How do you like the family?

Considering the responsibilies, I would need a better salary. Also, I don't know what the child's night-time sleep habits might be.

They need someone to be fully responsible for child, somewhat in a governess roll- Doctor, setting up play-dates and stimulating activities, choose appropriate classes, shop & keep child's wardrobe current. They want child busy and active at all times.

My last of 6 years, I made 70k for 50hrs, plus it was 7 days live-in (rent free).

Yes, I understand 85k is a lot of money. But it breaks down to $11-12 an hr.

Should I ask for more? They seem to really want me!
