From what you've shared here, OP, I think you're on the right track. Just like I tell moms, always follow your gut. They might not know how or when to start the discussion. Moms aren't nessasarily that great with communication, even with their own husbands.

I think you have two options here.
1. Just get another job. They might be relieved.
2. Bring it up, and ask. Say, "Are you looking at houses?"

You need to protect yourself, OP, even if others here don't want you to.

They may end up not doing it. We looked at houses farther out pretty seriously for a couple of years. Then when we actually moved, we moved...two blocks.

Plus depending on where they want to go they may not be able to get any of the houses they have their eyes on. My neighborhood is still pretty competitive with bidding wars and so on.

Thing is I would like to start job hunting pretty soon if they are moving away.

A second home is unlikely. I would ask them about their plans for the future regarding childcare and then bring up a possible move. But I'm afraid it would look as if I'm snooping through their papers.

OP here: they are already visiting houses, there are real estate papers all over the house. They've just had a new baby. It's pretty obvious that it's not for friends.

No. This could be for friends, this could be a year down the road, they could be dreaming,, etc.

Nanny family is thinking about moving. I saw papers with notes comparing houses on the table, on countertops and in the living room. They were in plain sight so they are not trying to hide it.
Should I mention it with them?
