Subject: An Arrest on a Background Check?
Yes, if charges were dropped (which sounds like what happened), then it would not show up.
I have had 2 tickets before (trespassing on private property - it was a campus housing unit's front yard that we didn't live at, and drinking in public) from when I was 19 yrs old, but both got dropped. One I went to court for it on NYE, they laughed about it and dropped it. The other, since it was a drinking thing, they had recently started a new program for people caught drinking or doing drugs (like pot) and sent us to what was basically an AA meeting. Then brought us over to court, and dropped the tickets/charges.

The FBI wouldn't be involved unless you crossed state lines or committed a federal offense.
Let it go. Obviously the court system did.
BTW, there's no rule that says you need to be court-ordered to take an anger management course. If you feel like you get enraged too often or too easily, just take a course. Be pro-active in bettering yourself, you know?

OP Here:
Thanks everyone for the great advice.
I was getting a little worried from the initial responses.

As others said - an arrest is not a conviction. If you were never convicted/sentenced by a judge then you don't have a criminal record (as it certainly would have shown up by now).
Consider it a very lucky break.

It depends on the type of background check that is being run. A criminal background check does not include police reports, arrest records, or traffic offenses (exception would be serious traffic offenses resulting in a conviction not just a ticket). Most families do also run full driving record background checks but probably don't seek to run deeper background checks that would reveal arrest records.

Yes if no charges were ever filed then you're good. Remember, you're innocent until PROVEN guilty in a COURT of law.
People can be arrested on suspicion of murder but the charges get dropped because of lack of evidence.
If you were so concerned you could of always looked up your arrest history online too.

If no charges were filed then you have a clean record.

Subject: An Arrest on a Background Check?
I am embarrassed to admit this, but I got into a fight about nine yrs ago with my ex-boyfriend and was arrested for Domestic Violence. (2004.) I bailed out of jail and had a court date, but when I showed up, I wasn't on the docket so I never had to face a judge and charges were never brought against me. No misdemeanor, no felony...nothing. I never even received probation or had to take any anger management courses.
Well I have been working as a nanny for about six years now and have had about 10 different independent background checks run on me from different families. I have provided my #SSN, previous/current addresses, full name, etc. and for some odd reason, my arrest has never shown up. Of course, I never volunteered the information, but I am perplexed why it doesn't show up. I got fingerprinted electronically last week for a job in a school and I was nervous for my results. I was told it was an FBI check as well, but today found out everything came back clear.
Do arrests not show up on background checks and fingerprint scans?
Or could it possibly have been expunged since I never faced a judge?
