I lasted about 3.5-4 months before realizing how miserable I was. I was so set on getting a job in the city that I let them take advantage of me by not paying overtime and paying me much less than I am worth. Lesson learned.

5 years - still there - too too long

Pssh. Maybe 2 months. Then I was out of there.

6 months.

I stuck it out at an awful position for 6 months after I got to the point of dragging myself to work every day. They didn't pay me on time, wouldn't let me leave the house, nicked and dimed me about everything, and were just awful parents to the point that I feared for their child on the weekends and considered calling CPS a few times. I finally left when the dad actually yelled at me for what was essentially a miscommunication between he and his wife, and he got upset that I was still "bugging" him about installing the baby gates since I found out their child had fallen down the stairs *again* the night before.

When it comes to the point where I get up every morning with that sense of dread, when I visualize myself driving past the house and anywhere but there and when I leave work in tears, then I know it is time to go. But sometimes I second guess myself and try to "stick it out," for those adorable kids who I love to death.

The most I have stuck it out has usually bordered between two to three weeks. After that, I usually get to that point where another day at work would literally cost me my sanity.

Those that stick it out longer...I salute you.

Thank you PP. That is the point I've come to. I dread getting up every morning. I have never felt like that before about a nanny position. It is most definitely time to move forward.

I have stayed over 5.5 years. In retrospect, that was 5.5 years wasted. Life is too short to be unhappy in somthing you can easily change.

I have stayed in a nanny position that I am unhappy in for over a year.
I tried to make it work but it just won't. Between a 10+ hour commute each week, no raise or bonus and zero communication on the part of my employers, I am burnt out.
