+1. Have the nanny sign up for automatic payments from her bank account. Give her a check for the amount of the first month's premium with "health insurance premium reimbursement 9/2013" on the memo line. Have her print out a month statement for you each month and keep a copy of the policy. Only reimburse her via check, not cash.

I'm an adult and my employer pays my health insurance premium directly! To get the tax benefits of giving health insurance to a nanny, you have to prove that the money is actually going to a health insurance policy. Which is why it seems best to pay for it directly. But I'm going to research your suggestion and see if I can make that work. Thanks!

I am trying to purchase a health insurance policy for my nanny. I tried to buy a policy through eHealthInsurance.com, and ran into a complication. The account would be in my nanny's name and password-protected, which makes sense since it would contain her personal medical information. But I would not have access to the payment information after initially entering my bank info for automatic payments. If the rate goes up, I won't be informed. If I want to cancel or change my payment info, I will have no access to the account. Has anybody found a way to pay for a nanny's policy where they maintain access to the payment info?
