I state base in my posts because SOME people claim that nannies negotiate in average terms. I've never known any nanny to do that.
It isn't silliness. Notice you didn't say which you prefer? What, pray tell, is the "simple" way?

For full time, 40 hours, $18-20 per hour total ($9-10 per family).

MB here - for FT (50hrs) we paid $8/hr per family ($16/hr gross total). Started at 4 months old.

that's because you factor in 10 hours of overtime. If overtime is guaranteed, many nannies would accept a lower base hourly rate.

Hm. This gets tricky to figure out rates wise, but here's a sample:

Family A (8-1 five days a week)- 12 hrs @ $10/hr (share rate) + 13 hours @ $15/hr (solo rate)= $315/wk
Family B (9-5 three days a week)- 12 hrs @ $10/hr (share rate) + 12 hrs @ $15/hr (solo rate)= $300/wk

So Nanny makes $615/wk which isn't awful, but isn't great for a share. It would also be difficult for her to get an additional job with these hours. It would also get complicated in that there's no easy place to host. If nanny is at Family A's house, then she's still got baby B for those extra hours once family A gets home? Or if hosting at family B's house, then she's there for an extra hour in the morning before they need to leave.

Basically, I wouldn't recommend this, it's going to get very confusing for all involved.

17.40 again.
If it's three days that never change, it will be easier than if it were five afternoons. Or three days that change constantly. Because the nanny can try and find a second job to supplement her income.

For part time, I'd guess $10-11 per family per hour. Part time nannies sometimes (usually?) make slightly more per hour.

If I'm being completely honest, most nannies (as far as I know) are looking for full time work. You'll have an easier time finding and keeping a nanny if you need full time hours. Just my 2 cents.

You should each pay at least 10., plus taxes, etc. and benefits. It's not cheap.

Looking into a nanny share for 2 infants. A 5 and 4 month old share in Arlington. How much in average would we both be paying? This is part time. Both families are looking for 25 hours a week. Please help me out.

What about full time?
