Not just all expenses paid, as pp said above, but you get your regular pay for the hours you work. Just use an hourly rate (if you have a weekly salary, calculate your hourly from it) and keep track of the hours. If you are staying in the room with the toddler and going to be waking up to care for toddler, you may want $50-$100 per overnight as well.

All food, activities, flight, hotel, etc should be paid for by the employer.

I've been a nanny for a family with an adorable 18mo for 7 months. They are planning a trip next month and have asked if I'd like to come along with them. The trip would be 3 days at a conference and then 4 days at a nearby major city. We are Canadian so this would involve a short international flight (on the same coast, just crossing the border in to the states). I have never travelled as a nanny before, and I their first nanny, so this is new territory for everyone! I'm doing a bit of research now to give me some ideas before we sit down to discuss expectations/pay. So, a few questions:

What is the standard for paying a nanny on this kind of trip, assuming I'll be doing a combination of working during the day and evening?
Should I expect my own hotel room? I wouldn't mind sharing with the toddler who still occasionally wakes in the night, as long as I was compensated fairly.
How do most families handle food/paying for activities/etc. on these kinds of trips? Both parents will be attending the conference so I will have at least 3 full days of work.

Any other sage advice? I would love ANY tips or advice anyone has to share about travelling as a nanny. Thanks!
