OP here. It was terribly uncomfortable, but I did manage to get a post dated check this morning. Now that I have the check, she is afraid that I will leave before my two weeks is up. I won't leave early, but explaining that to someone who is without integrity is difficult.

I would ask to be paid in advance, while guaranteeing her that it will not be cashed until the end of the week, or ask for daily pay. Otherwise you will not get paid!

I would ask for a post dated check for your last two weeks (if its bad atleast she cant fight if its due to you or not)

or ask her to pay you each day.

OP, nothing is ruined here. If only the silly control freak woman follows through with her promise to leave, things can only get better. I suggested getting paid daily. I would seriously do that at this point. I personally have parents pay me monthly in advance, just as a matter of routine.

You may be for real or you may not. How do we know? We apparently have a troll sitting around making up stories, egging on arguments, and trying to piss people off. I have no idea what's real anymore, and the whole thing just seems a waste of time now.

Daily pay is a good idea. I suspect that will mean I am immediately available to start my new job, which would be ok.

I'd *make* her pay you on a daily basis at this point, 'cause you know you're working for free, don't you?

This forum is ruined. I don't believe anything anyone says, and I'm starting to feel like many of the responses are sock puppets too.

I'm sure she will try to find a way around paying me. Too bad asking your nanny to work days that you know you can't pay for is considered a civil matter rather than criminal.

Find out what your state's labor laws are regarding final pay, they differ from area to area. On the last day, request to be paid in full and if not, present her with the information. Give her a deadline and file a claim the second she is late. She will have to pay and will be hit with penalties. Good luck!

You just do. You say "my last day is X, I'll be due $xx which I'll be expecting upon my departure."

I recently gave my two weeks notice to MB after multiple late paychecks. I am paid biweekly, and my last paycheck was split into two payments 4 days apart because she didn't have enough to pay me. Thankfully, I found a new job quickly, but I'm not sure how to approach her about my final check which is due the day after my final day. My charge is being enrolled in an expensive school and aftercare program. The registration fees are due immediately and are greater than my check. They are living so far beyond their means that there are times that the pantry has been virtually empty and she has said she couldn't buy the basics until payday. How do I ask whether or not I will be paid (and paid in full) on my final day?
