Presumably from something she ate.

Duh. WHERE did it come from? English is your second language?

I'd be more concerned about where you got the food poisoning.

Not everything that is posted to these forums needs to be dramatic. Lighten up, PP.

Are you sure you're not a troll? I don't see why you're even making a issue of this. I thought you were going to say she fired you for being sick. She said rest up. What's your problem?

Sure, it's not the best first impression, but she's heard how reliable you are and you won't be sick for long - then you'll have a chance to prove how dependable you are. I wouldn't worry about it, just focus on resting and getting better

I had this family I worked three yrs for. I worked full-time for them off and on the three yrs and I never ONCE called in sick or was even late. I was an excellent nanny for them and to this day, their child and I have a great relationship and I visit often.
The parents loved me so much that they referred me to another family who hired me on the spot after I aced our interview.

I had three half-day trial days which went very well and I was due to start yesterday.
Well the night before, I either had food poisoning or a stomach bug. Either way, I was much much too ill to even consider coming into work. I texted the family as soon as I knew I wouldn't be coming in as well as called. I told them I didn't want to put them out and would come in if they were really up against a wall, but that I had a really bad stomach and had horrible nausea. She sounded fine and told me to stay home, rest up and call her when I felt better.

Well I feel like an idiot now.
Even though I truly am legitimately sick, the timing could not have been any worse.

Do you think I made a bad first impression?? And how will this make the family that referred me look??

I am sure if my current family called my previous family and inquired about my reliability in the past, my previous family would give me two thumbs up due to my perfect record. It's just that I got sick at the wrong time I suppose.
