Right now we split our nanny with another family -- nanny watches an infant in the mornings, for 16/hour, then watches our two elementary school age kids after school for 18/hour. She works 25 hours for them (at 16 dollars an hour), and 20 for us (at 18 dollars an hour.)
We are having a third baby, and she will soon start watching both babies in the mornings, and then will come to our house to watch our baby and two older kids. (Not the other baby.)
I am thinking we will raise her to 22/hour for the two babies (11 from each family, because for those hours it is like a nanny share), and 20/hour for when she has my three kids.
These are her gross wages. She pays her taxes and we pay our portion. All other benefits are pretty standard - 100/month health insurance stipend, all federal holidays, two weeks salary at christmas. She also gets five weeks paid vacation, but I can't really count that as a "benefit" because it is not of her choosing -- we go away, so she gets off.
Does this sound like a fair raise?
