OP doesn't want to end up on a site like this with the description of her and/or her charge because a nosy nelly wants to butt in and make judgemens and assumptions (like 99% of the people on this site).

I understand OP, I really do but I'd just ignore them and smile and care for your charge and let them stare you down whilst ignore their own children/charges.

For those who said not to worry about it, I agree in theory. However, we are fairly new at this place, and I want to build up relationships so that we can set up playdates. I also want to make sure that I have a good reputation and don't end up with a busybody "reporting" to my MB. Even though she and DB LOVE the pictures, I just wouldn't want to deal with that, you know?

I've nannied for several years, but in my previous positions I lived in an area with very few nannies, so this is also probably just adjusting to living in a bigger city with others around who have preconceived notions of how I should or shouldn't act, etc.

People (neighbors, shop-owners, etc.) have come up to me to let me know things about my nanny. I always thank them for letting me know and give away nothing because I don't want to feed any drama. Sometimes they're letting me know a compliment, sometimes a critique. Sometimes they think something is a critique but I as the parent have more info than they do about the whole situation and know what the nanny did and why it was done.

You're the one who said it yourself - you're in a bigger city. Stop being paranoid - nobody attention to you because they're busy paying attention to themselves.

You need to prioritize. You should only care about what your bosses think. Not what random strangers think.

OP, I wouldn't worry what other parents or nannies may think regarding your phone usage. I am sure the parents love the updates that you are giving them. I do this fairly often with the little ones I watch, it helps the parents be apart of our days! The parents and I know I am not neglecting the kids when I send them a quick email with pictures and that is all that matters.

What the hell are you talking about

I send an email to my employers every day-- pictures and sometimes a note along with them. I usually do this while the baby is playing at his kid gym, simply because we're usually there at the point in the day where we have taken pictures and have enough of an update of how the day has been, but without it being too late for the parents to get the update while still at work. So I'll be sitting right next to him, shake the toy or give him a smile or reposition him if he needs it, while composing the email. I feel like some of the other nannies/mothers/employees are giving me funny looks about this. I thought of taking the baby to the back to avoid this, but that would interrupt his playtime unnecessarily, and he hates sitting in the stroller for no reason. So, I now find myself saying, "Oh look _____, we have to email Mommy and Daddy!" But we're usually in the baby area, while others are usually off in the toddler area, so if I say that in a normal, not-a-weirdo volume, then it does no good for the Nosy Nellies. What's a techie nanny to do?
