God OP, what a nightmare.

No advice to offer, just my deepest sympathies. I hope the other family are able to talk some sense into these clueless parents.

And this is exactly why the premium for a nanny share is more than the premium for an additional child from the same parents. What a freaking headache.

Family #1 needs to care for their own child, or hire a "sick child" nanny to care for the kid until the child is healthy enough for nanny care again.

I would have said that the moment child #1 started to vomit, mom or dad need to come home and take over. Nanny stays with healthy child.

If I were you, OP, I'd be at that meeting with both families. It's up to you to take charge of the situation.

OP here. I have guaranteed pay. I honestly think that they just don't want to be bothered to stay home with their child. This has happened before. The other parents are planning to speak with them.

Family #1 needs to take responsibility for their sick kid, and nanny goes on with family #2. Of course family 1 keeps paying you, or they loose their spot and you get a new family to fill the spot.

I am a nanny in a nanny share.

Child #1 started vomiting and having bad diarrhea last Wednesday.
I told his parents that I though he had a gastrointestinal bug and they insisted that it was just from teething.

Child # 2 woke up the next day covered in vomit and with a very bad diaper.
The parents of child #1 continued to insist that it was from teething and couldn't believe they both were teething at the same time (Seriously).

By Wednesday of that week every person involved in the share was infected, including my husband.

Fast-forward to Today- everyone is better, so we all decide that today is the day to restart the share.
Parents of Baby #1 bring him over and explain that he still has explosive diarrhea but is feeling much better.
They seem to think that diarrhea isn't a viable way to transmit an illness.

Who should get the nanny in this situation?
Would you expect a nanny to care for 2 ill children?
