Let's say you give notice on Wednesday, the 24th.
What happens if they find a new nanny that wants to start Wednesday, August 7th? Are you okay financially to be between jobs that long?

How will you stay on longer? Are you going to 'end' your nanny job before the school year starts?

I think what your planning on doing sounds good. It's always hard to leave a family but if they are decent people they will understand. And congrats on getting a teaching gig, that's awesome! Good luck with everything!

Congratulations! Definately go for it.

I have been with my current family for over a year and I am being offered the opportunity to teach 5th grade this school year. I don't want to leave my family high and dry, but this is a huge opportunity for me in my field. I am going to give my two weeks, but offer to stay on longer if necessary and train their new nanny to ease the transition.

I think this is fair and professional. Thoughts?
