+1 Most people still like to speak with my references, but a folder of glowing letters leaves an impression at an interview and can help you stand out. Its also been really nice to see the kind things my MBs had to say, and the specific things each appreciated!

+2. Glowing letters of recommendation are great for our portfolios and really makes the true professional nannies stand out. If you can afford a cash gift as a thank you- it would really say a lot about your character and it would make the nanny feel appreciated. It doesn't matter that the other family has already found a second family to replace your part in the share.

It's completely up to you, OP. If you can afford a cash thank- you gift, I'm sure the nanny would be tremendously appreciative.

We are leaving a nanny share after a smidgen under a year because we are moving. I was thinking of getting our nanny a framed photo of her and our kid, but I wasn't sure if anything else (mainly money) was expected? If it matters, we gave her a full week's pay at the holiday and a big gift.
