You should request a photocopy of any certifications, run a cori and driving record before hiring. More experienced, professional nannies will have a portfolio with all this plus written recommendations and other relevant information. You should still do your own cori tho. Forms for cori can be printed off your state website and must be signed by both you and the nanny. You should have a detailed contract written up and can find decent samples online. Nanny should have a week to look over contract while you call references.

All of your questions have been answered. Search archives of botj nanny forums as well as internet.

Hoping to hire a nanny soon (this week, if all goes well). First time, so I'm nervous about a number of things! One basic (I think) question is contract -- do people draw up contracts for nannies? Days/hours worked, pay, expectations, etc.? What else to include? Any suggestions for a contract template online?

Also, what paperwork do you require and keep copies of? Drivers license/legal ID, First Aid/CPR, other?

What else should I be thinking of? Thanks!
