This. I may not agree with everything Nanny Deb says, I respect that she stands behind her posts and isn't afraid to put her name on it. Nanny Deb's comma use is fine. Comma lady uses all punctuation in odd ways and I would guess that English is not her first language.

Allow me to help some of you out. Here is information where you can read about the proper use of commas.

NannyDeb was not using commas in the wrong places like Comma Lady does. I also use commas in my sentences quite a bit (and I tend to do this a lot as well, although I try to only do it once in each post). It's a habit. There are many that omit commas when they really should be there, but I get crazy and start to think that a comma should go everywhere. I can assure you that I am not NannyDeb nor Comma Lady.

As anonymous as this board is i'm sure we can all pinpoint certain users due to spelling, grammar, attitude and phrases that they use on a regular basis. There are certain individuals who stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm sure most of you remember Nannydeb, the supposed nanny who got on many DCUM users nerve due to having, as some believe, a stuck up, self righteous attitude.

I'm sure most of you also know Comma Lady. She's an anonymous DCUM user who, puts, commas, in, weird, places, all, the, time. Many have similar opinions of her being a stuck up nanny who hates on any thread that has been written by a MB/DB.

I was googling a few search terms and got brought to a old DCUM thread which was posted less than a year ago. Nannydeb commented a few times and I couldn't help but notice the similarities with the commas and attitude and it got me thinking that maybe both are the same person?

You are looking to enter a share to save money. Nanny is looking at entering a share to make significantly MORE money.

If you weren't paying $16 per hour, I would say that $20 per hour would be fair for a share, split 50%/50% down the middle between both families. But you started nanny off high, and as a nanny I wouldn't be willing to add the potential issues that come with a nanny share for less than 50% more per hour.

If you really like nanny, and you can afford $22 per hour ($11 per family), counter with that. If you can't afford $11 per hour, then you need to either find a new, potentially less experienced nanny and start the share at a rate you can afford ($16 per hour? $18 per hour) or you need to let nanny go and find a decent daycare.

Nannydeb, as usual, is wrong here.

It doesn't matter if OP started the nanny high at $16/hr. That was for one child. If the OP were to have a second child, the raise would be only $1/hr, maybe $2/hr more.

This nanny would be getting a $4/hr raise for a second child.

Sure, nanny would like to make $25/hr, but whatever imaginary "potential issues' you can dream up are not at all worth a 50% markup for a second kid.


I am not wrong, I am attempting to explain to the OP, from the POV of a nanny, why nanny would have asked for what she did. I don't actually AGREE with what the nanny is asking for, sweet anony. I suggested an alternative if the OP wishes to KEEP her nanny. I don't care what the rate would be for a second child in the same family, That is irrelevant, unless OP is pregnant. OP is talking about a 2 family nanny SHARE, with 2 children.

Now I know I'll get the whole 'who cares get a life' snarky posts but I created this thread mainly for the others who have taken a curious interest in comma lady, and the ones who have debated with the two.

So my question is, do you think it's is the same person?
