It takes a couple of weeks. It's odd your nanny has commented on it but not reassured you that this is a normal settling-in period. They'll get there, though

Yes - she has a good deal of infant experience. I do not have any trust issues with her. I think the problem is three-fold - one, we are part of a nanny share and she started with the other family earlier so is already bonded with that baby. Two, my baby is going through a very rough and clingy patch. And, three, the nanny is rather frank and outspoken, which can lead an over-sensitive new mom like me to question everything.

It's really bizarre that your nanny is expressing these concerns on day 2. Bonding with a new charge (that is not a newborn in a family you've been working for) is not instantaneous. It takes time to get used to each other. It's always taken at least a week or two if not much longer in a few cases. I don't understand how your nanny would think she and the baby would bond in a day-and-a-half.

It takes time. 1-2 weeks is usually my standard with new babies that are over 12 weeks. I'm with a family now and it took a few days for the baby to warm up to me. Every child is different but if your nanny is already expressing concern after the 2nd day, she doesn't sound very qualified to be working with infants, IMHO.

My baby is 5 months. Today is the nanny's second day and I worked from home the first day (probably a bad idea from a bonding perspective, but necessary from a logistics and trust perspective) - nanny is already expressing concern about bonding. I say give it a few days, but I am wondering how your experience was...
