My kids call our nanny "Nana"-- they can say it easily and she is like a grandmother to us-- so it fits.

Nannies, just tell the parents that you have children call you "Miss ....."
Believe me, you'll notice the difference. Parents should promote that to.

My charges call me my first name (or some version that they are able to pronounce of it) and always have. It has never affected the level of respect our authority that I command. I would feel like such a d-bag telling my MB the kids have to start saying "Miss". No I'm not their big sister but I am not their "help" either, I'm the person they spend every day with and some level of familiarity is perfectly acceptable.

Current charges call me Miss First Name. My preference is really just First Name, but these parents are former military and pretty big on formal manners, so insist on the Miss.

Once upon a time I had a charge call me morning!
I guess cause I would walk in and his mom would say.... "Morning!"

By my first name, although sometimes I think the parents want them to call me "Miss First Name" but that isn't going to happen.

They call me by my first name, but I did work for a family that had their children call me by Miss "x". The kids went to a preschool PT and called their teachers the same thing (Mrs. or Miss) and so the parents decided to have them do the same thing with their nannies/au pairs etc.
