My pay rate is the same, no matter how many hours. With a PT position, you don't lower the hourly rate when they are doing a full day because your child has no school due to a holiday or them being sick. The nanny is taking more time for you out of their schedule than normal, and doing just as much work each hour they are working as when it is just a few hours after school, so the same pay.

I charge $20/hr for 2 kids (assuming no special needs etc) but I am in SF so that does make a difference.

Most people I know use college or graduate students for this kind of job, and $15/hour seems relatively standard for an adult babysitter + mileage reimbursement or gas allowance.

$15+ hr (depending on experience) plus irs standard reimbursement for the mileage. Your pool will likely be college students, but there will probably be some people working other pt jobs that will be interested too. Steady pt hours shouldn't be a problem, but most people will likely have other obligations that make doing the occasional full day difficult. The more notice and scheduling you give them ahead of time, the more likely it is to work out.

How much would you pay for care from 3:00-6:00 every day including commute to and from school which is about 30 minutes/15 miles? She uses her own car. We live in the burbs. We have two kids between 7-10 years of age. The person was a stay at home mom who raised her family.

Responsibilities are to take kids home and help with homework. Occasionally drive to activities (maybe once a month). Also takes kids to library on Friday's.

On full days off, how much would you offer? How about part time days?
