My office provides cell phone for business which cannot be used for personal calls, texts, email. My personal cell for whicb I pay is not to be used by my boss for business. So, yes, office uses my personal cell then they should pay portion of my bill.

I wouldn't even think about asking mb to contribute to my phone bill. I send her pics and we text during the day. Does it cost you extra to send her pics?

If it costs extra (doubt it that in 2013 you'd opt for a plan that charges)..

If not then you'd be REALLY petty asking for money for nothing and if I were them I'd take it out of your end of the year bonus (if you indeed get a end of the year bonus).

While it is true that nothing is free, this nanny gets paid to do her job. That job, as defined by the employer, includes sending them photos each day.

As an MB, I would think my nanny is off her rocker if she asked me to contribute to her cell phone charges for this or any other reason. I've heard of nannies on here saying they get this as a perk, but that is extremely unusual in this day and age. I personally don't know any adults under the age of 65 who don't have a cell phone, but if they exist, I wouldn't hire them as a nanny. Unless a nanny wants to sit by the employer's house phone during 100% of her work hours, she needs a cell phone to be able to dial in and out as needed at any time of day while out and about.

As for sending pictures each day, I basically agree with 20:14. If the nanny gets charged by the text and doesn't want to pay it herself, she should upload the photos to the family's computer each day or upload them to her own computer and email them to the parents.

If it costs you extra, talk with them about the charge. Tell them that you would be happy to show them the pictures at the end of the day, but that your current plan does not have unlimited texts. They can offer to pay for you to increase your plan or see the pictures at the end of the day. If your plan covers this already, You have nothing to worry about.

Email the pics, problem solved.

If it's costing you money and they specifically request it they should pay. But really you should find a better plan. Virgin mobile has unlimited data for $35/mo.

Don't be silly. I send photos to my MB every day too, there is zero micromanaging going on, she just likes to feel like she's participating in her son's day in some small way. And before I took this job I already had a plan that covered unlimited texts (including photos) so why would I charge them anything?

If it doesn't, no.

I am expected to send daily pictures of my charges to parents using my personal cell phone, should the parents contribute to my phone bill?
