I do everything for them that I do for the other family - child's laundry, sanitizing toys and bottles, vacuuming and sweeping the children's areas, making and freezing baby food, etc. - I just do it all over the course of one very busy day. (To be fair, I wouldn't be able to do all of this if there were two children, and I won't be able to do it all once the baby drops her morning nap, but the point is that I am truly their PT nanny, not just a once-a-week sitter.)
So the answer is yes, you could get a great nanny for one day a week! If you have flexibility for the day you need I expect you'll find plenty of other nannies working a PT or FT/4day schedule who'd be very happy to add on your job! It used to be standard for nannies to work 40-50 hours a week but many families are rearranging their schedules to save money and so lots more nannies are getting 25-35hr/wk jobs and hoping to add a little more on top of it. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone.
