No. LI (and LO) nannies are legally entitled to be paid the minimum wage of the state where they work. It's in the Fair Labor Standards Act.

I agree. These childcare websites that allow below minimum wage options are just enabling these cheap and stupid families.

That would be great if the parents had to post minimum wage pay. I think some parents get confused with the daycare rate to that of a nanny due to the $5 option.

They really need to monitor the people posting job offers, I've come across numerous families who think it's perfectly reasonable to pay a nanny $5 an hour working with three children full-time. If you cannot afford a nanny, do not get one. These people will most likely never find a nanny, and if they do she probably won't be qualified.
