Also, if you are in NVa, no overtime is required. Huge plus on those weeks where work is insane!

+1. Don't even start a conversation about net takehome pay. Only talk about what you paying and be clear you are withholding taxes. This is a grown-up job, not some highschooler babysitting.

Wow, this is incredabily generous. You should be able to attract someone first rate. We pay $300 a week for a similar setup (50 hours a week) in NArlington except we provide a car to use on the off-hours. APs make $190 a week for 45 hours, but there are other fees involved.

I would actually advertise this as a range and ask candidates what they are looking for. Also, I would include date night once a week in the contact.

GreatAuPair.com was a great resource for us. It's not an only for international APs, but also for live-in nannies/housekeepers/elder care. We got tons of domestic applicants and were able to find someone incrediable fairly quickly.

That's more than we offer for a similar deal, so I'd say it sounds great if your nanny is interested in cash. In our house, we offer a few other perks that make up for some of the $$: a second kitchen for her own use, car provided for work and personal use, gas and cell phone stipends, health insurance, car insurance, worker's comp/liability insurance, direct deposit, etc.

I should also mention - light housekeeping -- just the kids things/spaces and meal prep just for the kids as well. And we have no pets.

She would be using our kitchen and we would by whatever food she requested.

No health insurance.

Health insurance?
Would she have her own kitchen or be using yours? If using yours, welcome to your food, weekly food allowance, something else?

We are exploring having a live-in nanny.

We are offering a downstairs room, full bath, and living area with it's own entrance/exit. $500/week in salary (after room/board/taxes deductions) with 2 weeks paid vacation, earned personal/sick days, and all federal holidays off with pay.

Hours would be 8:30-6:30pm M-F with weekends off.

Is this fair? I'm seeing mixed answers on going rates in the area (we are in Silver Spring, MD).
