I am another MB who disregards applications from candidates who do not post a photo. I can tell a lot about someone from his or her photo. It is incredible how many young women post photos of themselves that are overtly sexy or otherwise inappropriate for a professional context. The fact that they do not know any better tells me a lot about their judgment. Every job I've ever posted garners more applicants than I can spend time talking with, so the photo is just a quick way for me to rule out people who will not be a good fit for my family.

Also, when someone does not post a photo, I figure he or she is not serious enough about working to figure out how to upload a photo. That concerns me, because I need someone who is capable of navigating various obstacles in the course of caring for my kids.

Pictures that would be helpful for your profile would be of you w/a young child or children, a beloved animal or one taken of you somewhere amazing like Japan, Paris, etc. It would give the impression you are loving and well-traveled and well-cultured.

Please: No pictures w/purple hair, multiple facial piercings (tongue, cheek, eyebrow, etc.) A simple nose stud is okay. No LONG gel fingernails and no cleavage showing.

A smile should always be displayed. No sunglasses hiding the eyes and not too much make-up.

Whatever picture you post, make sure your true personality shows and shines through.

most parents would be pissed if a nanny did this without their permission. if you choose to do this, block out the kids faces.

Or get permission.

My standard resume/profile photo is of me and a former charge, but his parents OKd me to use it.

You can send the photo privately through email. Of course you don't HAVE to but you will have a much harder time getting employment. Yes, pictures do matter with many people. Many don't want overweight nannies, scary looking nannies (lol, no offence), tattooed nannies, etc. We live in a judgemental world.

I like to see a photo and tend not to choose candidates who don't post one.

I would not post your photo. If you want, you could email her a photo after you agree to an interview.

I don't have a picture on my Sittercity profile and have done well. Do what you are comfortable with.

It is completely up to you whether you want to put up a picture or not, but you will have a harder time finding new families to work for if you don't have even one picture of yourself visible. It isn't impossible, but it will be more work.

I also wanted to add that I hate taking photos of myself and all my current photos are with my husband.

Nanny here. I prefer to keep my photos private . A potential family on sittercity has asked me to add a profile picture . Just curious how nannies and mb's feel about this?
