Since we pay the same amount ever two weeks it is pretty much on auto pilot. Effortless. Worth every penny. We pay them about the same amount per year as we pay our nanny every week.

This - I appreciate the hand holding. Really wouldn't want to DIY so I guess different strokes for different folks?

We've run the gamut for payroll. We started with care.com, but then tried to do it ourselves to save some money. Doing it yourself isn't rocket science, but there are a lot of annoying parts to it. We switched over to an app a couple months ago called Nanny Pay Advisor. It's in between doing it all yourself and a full payroll service. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.restructureddesign.nannypayadvisor It's only a few bucks a month after the trial.

I don't know why you're having an issue with Intuit now that your nanny lives in MD. When we hired our current nanny she gave me her family's address in MD, and I entered her info in Intuit with her MD address. I noticed the state tax rate was different than we had estimated b.c. we'd estimated the tax rate for VA, where we lived, and where the nanny moved. I explained to the nanny this is why her first pay check was for a different amount that we were all anticipating (more $ was withheld), and she quickly gave me her address in VA (this was legitimate, I've been to her apartment in VA and know she lives there).

I like http://www.savvynannypayrollservices.com. We've been using it for 18 months and it has worked great. Plus, it's affordable--$39.99 per month.

They're way too expensive. Sorry.

Maybe you get what you pay for. I find they pretty reasonable (different poster btw)

They are called homepay now.

With our first nanny who lived in DC we used Intuit online household employee payroll service and it worked just fine. It wasn't all that straight forward to set up, and we had to do the legwork to get our DC withholding and unemployment account numbers but after those steps it worked pretty well. We could even do direct deposit without an additional fee. It told us when and how much to pay for both our federal and state tax, provides the tax forms for both state and federal, saves all pay-stubs, and prepares a W2 at the end of the year. For all of these services we paid $22/month for this payroll service. ($264/year)

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work with our new nanny since she lives in Maryland, and Intuit won't let me withhold her State income tax since she works in DC with the household employee payroll service. I could switch to a small business owner account to accommodate this situation - but then it would not produce the schedule H form that has to be submitted with the the 1040. Plus the price of this service would be $468 ($39/month). Thus I'm seeking your suggestions on other payroll services that offer a similar package and rate. I know that many folks use NanniTaxes - but this seems pretty expensive in comparison to what I've been using. I definitely don't feel comfortable figuring out all the taxes on my own - so appreciate your recommendations on a service.

Your input much appreciated!
