I have done this for 8 months now in NYC, and I know my pay is severly low. A 24hr nanny is a supreme luxury, and should be compinsated as such. I am a subsistute parent, I am the one one planning what classes are appropriate, taking to doctor appointments, waking up a dozen times when the child is sick. I am raising the child. Currently I work all holidays with no extra compensation, and I get only 2 weeks vacation. I have to tell you that this schedule is creating severe burnout!
On weekends all I seem to do is catch up on sleep and errands what I can't do during the week. I am giving up my life for not great pay. I think a 4 day on, 4 day off schedule would be much better. And other 24hr nannies on the UES make around $500 a day.
Do you live out on the weekends? What is the norm when it comes to 24hr nannies, one goes home and the other comes in or are there separate spaces for each nanny?
