I have a couple of books on preschoolers activities. One I called Science is Fun and the other is just a well rated activity book I found on amazon

If you are more than a block or two from the metro, I don't think that I would bother with the hassle of taking a 5 year old and 7 month old from Gaithersburg to the zoo. If you needed to take a bus to the metro, I would definitely forget this. Its a long trip. You'll need to be careful to plan potty trips to not hit while you're on the train. The 7 month old will need to nap in the stroller because the trip isn't worth it for just an hour or two in the morning. The 5 year old will need to be high energy to keep up with the walking (most 5 years do have the energy to do this but some may not). We live in Darnestown/Potomac area and drive into DC or drive to Shady Grove and then metro into DC on weekends frequently. Its a full day trip and we have difficulty getting back by 5, its usually at least 6 pm.
You could try going to Rockville Town Center first to see how easy the logistics of getting to the metro are with the kids. There is a library and in warmer weather a splash area in the center square. They also have kid activities in this area.

Baking, outdoor play, library, mall, play dates, pool, other social groups, parks.

I need some ideas of stuff I can do with a five year old who will be starting Kindergarten and his 7 month old sister (who's already crawling). The only thing is I'm not driving but I'm in Gaithersburg and not far from Metro. Like I thought of the zoo but MB was telling me its a lot of walking (uphill on way, downhill the next). Anyone else have any ideas?????Are there science project kits I can get online?????
